After our return from Scotland, we did some touring around in the Midlands again. During the months of May through July, many of the smaller villages have what are called Well Dressings. These are set up around water sources (must be fresh water) to bless the source.
These are created of large frames, with nails through the back, then salted wet clay is smoothed onto the bed of nails and decorated with all natural materials. Nothing manmad (other than human hair) is allowed.
Here is a frame in one of the towns. To my regret, I do not have the name of the town.
Close up of the frame.
Everything in this frame is natural materials. Notice the corn around the eye.
